About CAMP:

The California Alliance for Maximizing Potential (CAMP) is part of a UC System-wide alliance and is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), UC Riverside Chancellor's Office, and the University of California Office of the President (UCOP).

The CAMP Program at UC Riverside aims to recruit and retain students in STEM majors, facilitate their academic success, provide professional development, and encourage their transition to graduate study. CAMP-UCR is a program that works to broaden participation in the STEM fields to successfully complete undergraduate science degrees and further pursue their studies at the graduate and professional level.


CAMP Scholars Program:

The CAMP Scholars Program funds current UCR STEM undergraduate students who are in a UCR Faculty-led research lab. Scholars must meet CAMP Eligibility criteria (listed below) to receive funding up to $1000 per quarter for working 10 - 12 hours per week in a faculty-mentored research lab and up to $5000 for working 35 - 40 hours per week in a faculty-mentored research lab during the Summer program.

Applications open on a quarterly basis and are reviewed on a rolling basis. Late applications may be accepted, however priority will be given for those submitted by the deadline.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a UC Riverside undergraduate student in good academic standing
  • Have a minimum 2.7 UC cumulative GPA
  • Be a declared STEM major [CNAS & BCOE]
  • Intend to pursue a Masters (M.S./M.A./MPH) or Ph.D. in a STEM field after graduation

Additional Requirements:

  • Be currently accepted to do research under a UCR STEM faculty lab for 10-12 hours per week during the quarter. - Quarterly Program
  • Be currently accepted to do research under a UCR STEM faculty lab for 35 - 40 hours per week during the Summer. - Summer Program Only
  • Meet additional requirements set by the Research In Science & Engineering [RISE] Program. - Summer Program Only
  • Cannot be enrolled in research/academic units while paid under the program - Both Programs
